The transformation of the Bunbury Wildlife Park’s wetland area has begun.
Bunbury based contractor LD Total has started work to replace the park’s existing pond with a new clay lined pond, featuring a water fall and an extensive filtration system.
Once built, the billabong will become home to the Park’s black swans and swamp wallabies.
“The new exhibit will transform a previously unused area of the park into an attractive and tranquil wetland setting.” says Park Manager Kristina Knight. “This exhibit wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of Royalties for Regions funding or the generous sponsorship from the Bunbury Port Authority.”
The Bunbury Port Authority says it is thrilled to be part of the project.
“The Bunbury Wildlife Park is a key icon of the community and provides a fantastic tourism opportunity for Bunbury to showcase West Australia’s unique fauna.” says Bunbury Port Authority spokeswoman Kylie Astbury. “We look forward to working with the Wildlife Park team during the project.”
